Principal Second Violin

Katherine Peter grew up in Toronto, Ontario and started violin at the age of four. As a multiple gold medallist of the Contemporary Showcase Festival and Kiwanis Festival, where she has competed in both violin and piano categories, Katherine is excited to bring her lifetime passion for new Classical music to Prince George. She is a graduate of the Young Artists Performance Academy at the RCM Toronto, the Schulich School of Music at McGill University for her Bachelor of Music, and holds a Master of Performance Violin from the University of Toronto. Her mentors include Dianne Werner, Marie Bérard, Thomas Williams, Annalee Patipatanakoon, and the Gryphon Trio.

Previously, Katherine performed across Ontario and Quebec as concertmaster of the McGill Beethoven Orchestra, and as a core member of the Brott Festival Orchestra and the TSYO. As a chamber musician, she regularly performs in the Classical Context concerts at the Canadian Music Centre, and for the York Region Chamber Music series. Outside of performing and teaching violin and piano, Katherine enjoys hiking, reading, and raising her pet parrot, Dante.
