Laszlo Klein is a professional hornist with over 25 years of performing experience including his current position of Principal Horn with the Prince George Symphony Orchestra, which he has held since 1989. He has performed several concertos with the PGSO to public acclaim; most notably were Mozart’s Horn Concertos numbers 1 and 4, Richard Strauss’s Horn Concerto number 1 and recent performances of Mozart’s Horn Quintet. He has played with the Vancouver, Edmonton and Kamloops Symphony Orchestras, as well as the Alberta Baroque Ensemble. He also plays trumpet professionally, and is a regular with Judy Russell Productions including Peter Pan, Chicago, Annie, Gypsy, and more recently Hello Dolly.
Besides being a performer, Laszlo teaches French horn and trumpet privately, conducts brass instrument clinics, and is a substitute band/music teacher in School District 57. Some of his private students have been selected to play with the British Columbia Honour Band and Orchestra as well as the National Concert Band.
As an adjudicator, Laszlo enjoys working within the instrumental and band section of music festivals and is well known in northern B.C. for his insightful and enjoyable approach to music education.
Interested in the technical side of things, Laszlo started a brass instrument repair business in 2001. He currently has clients from 100 Mile House to Ft. St. John, Terrace to Prince George, and everywhere in between.
