My Dear Friends,
Welcome to the PGSO’s 50th Anniversary Spring Season: Celebrating the Joy of Live Music!
Last fall, we took our first steps in presenting live orchestral concerts to our community and the response was overwhelmingly positive. You had all missed the beautiful sounds of the PGSO, and the musicians and I were very touched; not to mention how happy we were to make music again together. So we are presenting seven concerts this winter and spring. I am pleased to say that I will be conducting three of these concerts, including a very special family performance of Prokoviev’s Peter and the Wolf.
You will be treated to a variety of small ensembles, including woodwinds, brass, and a string orchestra, with music ranging from the Renaissance to the 20th Century. Performances will be held in the ballroom of the Prestige Treasure Cove Resort. Seated at tables all around the ensemble, this venue gives you a unique and fascinating perspective on the musicians and the music. In addition, the musicians and I will offer insights into the music being performed. Add to this the opportunity for refreshments and appetizers, and you have the makings of a most enjoyable time at the symphony.
Music speaks to us as nothing else can. It gives us solace as well as entertainment. And today we need this more than ever. We are proud to be able to bring you the life changing power of music. See you at the concerts.
