The PGSO Returns to Live Programming with Fall Chamber Socials

October 13, 2021

The PGSO has announced the return of live chamber music to the city this fall, starting Sep 25 - 26 at the Hart Community Centre.  In a long-awaited return to live programming, the orchestra looks to build on the success of last fall’s sold-out chamber programs. The Chamber Socials are intimate gatherings presenting live chamber music with table seating.  Appetizers are included in the ticket price, and a cash bar will be available.

Their first program is called Serenade, after the old tradition of lover’s songs.  “Lovestruck young men would sneak beneath their lover’s window at night to sing or recite poetry,” explains the PGSO Executive Director, Ken Hall.  “Sometimes they would wear masks to hide their identities from passers-by or protective fathers.  And occasionally they would go so far as to urge their intended audience to sneak out of the house to join them. Masks are unfortunately back in fashion for the moment, so we hope our own little serenade will convince people to wear theirs and get out of the house!”

This concert features music by Beethoven, Dvořák, Kodály, and Riisager, played by the musicians of the PGSO under the baton of Music Director Michael Hall.

Tickets are $40 for adults, $37 for seniors, and the orchestra has introduced a new reduced ticket price of $30 for those under 30. Children and youth are $15.  Subscriptions for all three chamber socials are also available at an additional discount. Prices include both appetizers and taxes, although there is a $1.50 processing fee per ticket. Patrons are encouraged to purchase in advance as attendance is limited.

As per provincial guidelines, proof of vaccination for Covid-19 will be required for entry.  Check the PGSO website or contact the box office for further details about safety measures.

This performance is sponsored by the Pattison Media Group and the Prestige Treasure Cove Resort.
